What is the Gas Safe Register?
We are a Gas Safe Registered company – this is very important, but not everybody knows what Gas Safe Registered means, or why it’s important.
The Gas Safe Register is not a trade association or membership body, it replaced CORGI as the UK’s gas safe registration body in 2009. It is the only official registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. It is illegal for anyone not registered to work on any gas appliances, including boilers and cookers.
A gas engineer can only be issued a license by following a recognised route of training and assessment, in much the same way as you need to pass a driving test to obtain a driving license.
Gas appliances can be deadly if they are incorrectly fitted or serviced, gas leaks can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, fires or even explosions. This is why choosing a Gas Safe Registered engineer to service your boiler and other gas appliances.
Qualified engineers carry a Gas Safe ID card, don't be afraid to ask to see this when an engineer arrives at your home or business to carry out any work.
